Curtin University of Technology

Curtin University of Technology is Western Australia's largest and most multi-cultural university. It was previously known as the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT). The University has campuses in Sydney, Malaysia and Singapore, and it conducts degree programs in Singapore, Vietnam, Mauritius, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and more.

Curtin offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in business, humanities, health sciences, resources, engineering and related sciences. It offers higher degrees by research at the master and doctorate level. Research strengths are concentrated around four broad themes: Resources and energy; ICT and emerging technologies; Health; Sustainable development.

It is a member of the Australian Technology Network, an alliance of five of the most innovative and enterprising universities in Australia.

Awards and Rankings:

- Placed among the top 300 universities in the world. According to the Times Higher Education - QS World University Rankings, it is ranked 235th in 2007, 232nd in 2008 and 244th in 2009.

- Placed among the world's top 200 universities for Engineering & IT (#195 globally) in THE-QS Rankings 2009.

- It is one of only 17 universities placed in the SJTU Academic Ranking of World Universities 2009.

- Placed among the top 10 MBA schools in Asia & Australasia (Economist's 2009 Full Time MBA Rankings).

- It is the highest-ranked Western Australian university and received a five-star rating for entry flexibility in the Good Universities Guide 2008.

- It is the only university in the world that has had two recipients of the prestigious 'Outstanding Contributions to Science Education Training Through Research Award', awarded by the National Association for Research in Science Teaching.
